Penns Creek Stream Report

Date:

Water Level / Clarity: Currently 989 cfs, average is 662 cfs. | very high

Water Temp: high 30s/low 40s | off-color

Fishing Overview

Penn's is blown out from rain and snow. Higher flows and the return to colder water may put the fish in a funk. Small jig streamers and BWOs have been productive. Fish closer to the banks with the higher flows and wade carefully.
March can produce awesome days, followed by awful days on Penns Cr. Get out when it lets you. Ya never know.

Specific Tips

This time of year it's near impossible to get back to Poe Paddy with snow and ice on the back roads unless you've got 4WD.
Stick with nymphs deep in pools early, then fish will move into faster runs to feed when day warms up.
Best bet would be to stay with smaller nymphs and some egg patterns. But, Big winter fish on Penns love to eat Stonefly nymphs!
