Fly Fishing Team USA | Founder, Innovative Angling | World Championship Medalist

Saturday, August 8th 12 PM

Mike Komara picked up his first fly rod at age eight and was training with the US Youth Fly Fishing Team by thirteen, going on to earn a team bronze in Slovenia (2017) and a team silver in the Czech Republic (2019) where he also served as team captain. As a member of adult Fly Fishing Team USA, he helped bring home team bronze medals at the 2024 and 2025 World Championships, with another competition on home soil in Idaho this September. Off the water, he founded Innovative Angling, a Central Pennsylvania guide service built around bringing competitive fly fishing techniques to anglers of all levels. Join us at the 6th Annual Cumberland Valley Fly Fishing and Outdoor Festival for a live sit-down conversation where you can pick the brain of one of the best in the game before he heads to Idaho.

Patagonia's FREE Wader Testing Station

Patagonia's FREE Wader Testing Station

Bring your waders to the Patagonia booth at the Cumberland Valley Fly Fishing and Outdoor Festival for free wader testing. They will locate any leaks for you, even those tiny pinholes so you know exactly where the trouble spots are.

This service is open to any brand of waders and is available only at the festival. While we can’t repair them onsite, we’ll walk you through how to fix them properly at home with a wader repair kit. It’s all about keeping your gear in action and reducing waste.

The first 30 people to have their waders tested at the 2026 Cumberland Valley Fly Fishing & Outdoor Festival will receive a free gift from the Patagonia Worn Wear program.

Festival Competition

NRS Raft and Cast Classic

Rafts provided by NRS
  • Saturday, August 8
  • 3–5 PM
  • Children's Lake

Think you can row your teammate into position for that perfect cast? Think you can land that cast under pressure? If so, join us for the NRS Raft and Cast Classic at the 6th Annual Cumberland Valley Fly Fishing and Outdoor Festival on Children's Lake.

Here's the Skinny

  • A timed event: row around a predetermined marker and back while casting to 7 targets for points, 3 on the way out and 4 on the way back. You must hit the final target to stop the clock.
  • Two rafts row at the same time with teams of two. One person rows and another casts from the bow to targets along the way, with a scorer assigned by TCO. You must sign up as a team of two.
  • Speed is the name of the game, but the most points come from your casts. No dipping a cast in the target. That's grounds for the crowd letting you hear it, plus no points.

Scoring

  • Hit a target for 100 points, up to 3 successful hits per target for a max of 300 points each. No limit on attempts.
  • One successful cast at the final 7th target stops the clock and is worth 300 points.
  • The first boat to finish a heat with the fastest time earns 500 bonus points.

PFDs must be worn and 5-weight rods will be provided. The two rafts with the most points face off in the championship round, and the winner takes home a TCO gift card. What's your strategy going to be, speed and skipping targets, or slow and steady for max points? Remember, this is supposed to be a fun event, and the Judge has final say, so let's have fun. And no, there will not be TCO Pros competing.

As Ricky Bobby once said, if you ain't first, you're last.
