John Parisi's Top 5 Sulphur Patterns

1. Daniel’s Sunburst Perdigon

1. Daniel’s Sunburst Perdigon

Notes from John:

This is a great thin bodied sulphur nymph that sinks fast and can work with any technique.  It works especially well on euro nymph and dry dropper rigs.  The strip of yellow flash on top imitates a hatching sulphur perfectly.

2. Miller’s Simple Sulphur

2. Miller’s Simple Sulphur

Notes from John:

As the name says this is a simple no frills nymph pattern.  It has a plain brown body with a little bit of yellow dubbing for a collar that makes it stand out from the drifting naturals.  It will produce fish even on heavily pressured streams.

3. Sparkle Dun Sulphur

3. Sparkle Dun Sulphur

Notes from John:

No list of flies would be complete without a sparkle dun.  It can imitate both the dun and spinner stage, floats well, and is easy to see on water.  I have a lot of confidence in this one.

4. Bread Line Emerger Sulphur

4. Bread Line Emerger Sulphur

This is a great little emerger pattern.  It sits fairly low on the water and imitates a sulphur struggling to get out of its shuck.  If fish are refusing upright duns give this one a shot.

5. Sulphur Parachute

5. Sulphur Parachute

I always have to carry a few parachute mayflies in my box, they float high and are easy to see if you are fishing dry flies in current.  In the larger sizes they can support a small nymph if you want to dry dropper fish.
