One of most important mayflies for trout anglers is the Blue Wing Olive (BWO). These simple yet effective patterns provide a great footprint for other flies and are a must have for local streams throughout the PA region.

Join John Parisi, Umpqua Signature Fly Tyer, TCO Fishing Guide and TCO Bryn Mawr Store Manager as he walks you through the BWO life cycle covering the entire water column by tying a nymph, emerger, and dry fly. This class is best suited for those with a basic understanding of fly tying.

  • All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your favorite vise and tools.    

  • You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.

  • We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.

  • You will leave the class equipped with the  skills needed to expand the craft and fill your fly box..
