Are you fishing the Muddler?  If you fish PA, you need a Muddler Minnow. Sculpins are a staple food in our trout streams, and the muddler's spun deer hair head pushes water and wobbles like the real thing. Strip it along the bottom for big browns, swing it through a run for smallmouth on the Susquehanna, Juniata, or Delaware, or dead-drift it in late summer when hoppers are in the grass. Skate it across the surface at dusk and it passes for a caddis or a struggling baitfish. Come join Sam Reibman as he teaches you to tie this versatile fly that should be in everyone's fly box.

  • All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your favorite vise and tools.    

  • You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water. 

  • We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.

  • You will leave the class equipped with the  skills needed to expand the craft.
