Come learn to tie some soft hackle and winged wet flies fished on the swing that are subsurface patterns designed to look alive and move with the current rather than float or drift inertly. They mimic escaping or swimming aquatic insects, emerging pupae, or small baitfish. Tyler Potts will walk you through how to tie some of his favorites while sharing his techniques for fishing swing flies.  

Additional information:

  • All tying materials will be provided for students but bring your favorite vise and tools.    

  • You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.

  • We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.

  • The class will include tips and tricks that will make the fly-tying process more enjoyable.
