Brood XIV is coming to Central PA this year, join us for a special class to help get ready for this historic emergence! For some the periodic cicada hatches are an annoyance, but for fly fisherman it’s a dream come true. Many people from across the country plan trips around these hatches so get your vises ready as we expect to see these amazing bugs in the late spring this year.
To be ready we'll be tying up 3 different patterns to help you cover the water column when the cicadas start to come out: a high-floating Hoov's Cicada variation, a lower-floating Mr. Wiggly-style cicada pattern, and a sunken cicada.
- All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your vise and tools, we can provide tools if needed.
- You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.
- We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used. The class will include tips and tricks that will make the fly-tying process more enjoyable.
- You will leave the class equipped with the skills needed to expand the craft.
