Nymphing for Steelhead

One of the most effective techniques for chasing Great Lakes Steelhead is nymphing under an indicator.   During the cold winter months it is an absolute must to get your flies to the bottom and in the zone.  Steelhead will not move that much within the water column for food when fishing sub 40 degree water temps.

The class will cover the following:

  • Reading and identifying nymphing water
  • How to achieve a "dead drift"
  • How to adjust for depth
  • Proper line control and mending
  • Rigging
  • Flies and Beads
  • Rods (single hand and two-handed), reels, lines
  • Cold Weather Attire
  • Tips on fishing the Salmon River in Pulaski and Altmar, NY.
