Save our Susquehanna was a project the state of PA launched back in 2015 to generate support for the Susquehanna River. The idea was to sell "Save Our Susquehanna" (S.O.S.) buttons for $10.00 and the state would match the money earned to be dedicated to supporting projects that help the Susquehanna River and its bass populations.
It was a huge success; however, the fight is far from over, and though the SOS initiative is complete, the state now has a Voluntary Bass Permit available for purchase when you buy your annual fishing license. This permit is to help fund habitat improvement to increase natural bass reproduction, maintaining and improving Pennsylvania's Best Fishing Waters for bass, bass habitat work may also benefit flowing water bass populations, and other projects around the Susquehanna and its tributaries to make fishing for accessible and raise the general excitement that fishing for smallmouth bass can bring anglers.
TCO Fly Shop and Relentless Fly Fishing have worked with Mathew Stockton, a Michigan artist who loves fishing for smallmouth, to bring you an awesome design for these shirts and hats!
** We will be donating $5.00 from every hat and T-shirt sold to the fund to help continue the research and restoration needed to keep our smallmouth fisheries healthy. Not only for local fishing, but for the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Healthy water starts in the headwaters, if they are not healthy it trickles down to the larger water ways, if we can help the smallmouth populations by increase the health of our systems, we in turn will help the Chesapeake Bay and its dwindling population of striped bass.
