| Steve Spurgeon/TCO Bryn Mawr - Price and performance, the Lamson Velocity has both. Machined from barstock Aluminum, this reel is not only light, but also strong. I pamper all my gear, but accidents do happen. I have dropped this reel more than once and the hard alox finish is almost impervious to scratches. The mid-size arbor keeps my line from looking like a Slinky when I'm ready to fish and retrieves line quickly. Finally, when big fish want to run after being fooled by a CDC dry fly, the conical drag starts out smooth and puts an end to the fight. All the while protecting the lightest of tippets. It's hard to find anything made in the good ol' U S of A anymore, but the folks at Lamson, out in Ketchum Idaho, make all of their products and stand behind them 100%. After owning and fishing many of their reels, so do I. |
