"Stones and Chrome"
By Jake Villwock
One of
the most predominate food sources for
the Great Lakes Steelhead is the stonefly
nymph. From mid-November till they leave
the river Steelhead find Stoneflies to
be one of their favorite meals. When the
water temps get into the low 40’s
my streamers get packed away until early
spring and nymphs get tied onto my line.
The Thumpin Jack Flash Stone Fly is my
favorite fly for just this occasion. I
created this pattern specifically for
this area and it doesn’t disapoint!
