QUESTIONS
WITH STEVE
When and why did you start fly
fishing?
Almost 10 years ago. I have always had an
interest in fly fishing but never knew quite
how to break into it. I got a fly rod and
reel for Christmas from a good friend and
never touched a spinning rod again. Thinking
back now, it was the best gift I ever received.
What
is your favorite type of fly fishing?
The other TCO guys will tell you that
my motto is “DRY FLY OR DIE.”
This is absolutely true, I am a self-proclaimed
dry fly snob but on other fronts, I do
enjoy saltwater fishing immensely.
What are your
favorite waters to fish?
If I had to narrow it down I would go
with the Upper Delaware, State College
(particularly the Little J and Penn’s
Creek) and finally Montauk for Striped
Bass. I like Penn’s Creek in particular
because it has a very diverse insect population
and its bigger water. Also, it’s
close to Paul’s house so I can go
bother him whenever I want.
When you’re
not fishing, what are you doing? Past
times, Hobbies etc…
I like to ride my road bike, hike and
snowboard. I am in the midst of trying
to learn photography and video with some
new camera gear as well. I have to admit
though that when I have free time I do
mostly go fishing, it’s still my
main love.
What are your
plans for the future within TCO, what
projects are you working on and when can
we expect to see them come to fruition?
I am working on taking our business in
the Bryn Mawr store to the next level.
I’m starting to get my feet wet
in the destination arena so for next year
I will be putting some trips together
for Belize and local spots like the Delaware. |
