Caddis - Dry Flies

Caddisflies (trichoptera)are moth-like aquatic insects that are extremely important to Trout. The life cycle begins as a grub-like worm called a Larva. Many varities of Caddis will build a cocoon or a case until it emerges as a Pupa where it will swim or crawl to the surface. Caddis emergence often happens very quickly, however emergers and cripples can be important to fool wary trout. The Adult Caddis live for several days to mate before returning to the surface as a Spinner.

CDC Elk Hair Caddis	$1.95

A nice combination of elk hair and CDC in a caddis imitation great for skating. CDC keeps it from absorbing water. A caddis flies are designed for a wide range of trout-fishing situations.

CDC Emerging Caddis	$2.25

Emerging caddis flies are most vulnerable when they are breaking free of the shuck in the film and trying to dry their wings. Anglers who have been fly fishing this pattern have given it great reviews on its effectiveness as it hangs in the water. This Henryville fly was created by Hiram Brobst and was christened on the Henryville section of Pennsylvania's Broadhead Creek. The Henryville is a superior adult caddis imitation and has been around for many years. One of the classic dry flies, it is excellent for skittering, or you can clip the hackle on the bottom so that it will stay upright and float lower in the film.
