Sage Xi3 Fly Rods
When it comes to fly rod genealogy it becomes hard to find a rod line more pure than Sage’s saltwater offering over the years. From the RPLx to the Xi2 these saltwater specific rods have been slaying the biggest ocean monsters around the world for many years. As technology improves, this rod has changed and the new Xi3 (available NOW at TCO Fly Shop) is no exception. Sage has blended its Generation 5 technology with its new Saltwater H2o system. To make it simple, the Xi3 is lighter and easier to cast than the Xi2 yet still offers the guide like durability and fish fighting skills. This is a saltwater focused rod and Sage offers line weight from 6-16 to handle even the most viscous beasts.

Sage 99 Series Fly Rods
Need a bit of extra reach, have to throw a longer roll cast or mend those difficult currents half way across the river? The Sage Rod Company has the answer for you; it’s called the 99. All of the rods in the 99 series are 9’9” in length and range from 4-8 weights. This rod, which is loosely based on the Z-Axis series, will give anglers the extra length that they need in heavier water. I expect the 7 and 8 weight 99’s will become great Steelhead rods and the 4-6 weights stand to become some of the greatest large water trout rods to ever hit the water.

Sage Bass Fly Rods
After working with a small, tight-lipped group of serious bass anglers, we’ve developed two new rods that can drop a hair frog or an air-light diver with pinpoint accuracy and hardly a ripple on the water. From a fly fishing perspective, we’re talking about effortlessly pushing big, wind-resistant bugs into tight quarters. Available in two models, Smallmouth and Largemouth, both rods measure 7'11", which slides them just under the strict bass tournament rules for rod length. Additionally, both rods are sold with custom bass taper flylines and a travel case for protection. When used outside the bass fishing world, we strongly recommend them for probing the mangroves or throwing huge flies for pike and muskies.

Sage Vantage Fly Rods
Sage is one of the only rod companies that still continue to build their entry-level rods at their own rod factory. While most others went to China and other countries to build their cheaper sticks, Sage stood strong with their Launch series and the quality showed. The Launch was a great rod for the price and its successor is no exception. The new Vantage rod from Sage is a lighter and better casting version of the Launch. With only a small price increase this rod still represents a great value for a U.S. built rod by one of the best makers in the world.
