“For
the Love of Green”
By
Chris Frangiosa
The
color green means different things
to different people. To most, the
color green signifies money. The establishment
of wealth is top priority for many
and at the end of the day makes the
world turn. As priorities go fly-fishers
seem to have it a bit different and
in my opinion, are right on. To anglers,
the most important things are spending
time out in nature, appreciating even
the smallest detail and of course
catching fish. So it goes to reason
that the green we dream of is a bit
different than others. When I think
green, I think Winston and I believe
that my priorities are right in line.
Every Winston green
rod is created in Twin Bridges Montana,
the heart of trout country. It is
here that Winston creates some of
the most special rods in the industry
today. Known for making the greatest
traditional rods with a classic feel,
Winston is now meshing this skill
with high tech materials to create
the lightest, liveliest feeling sticks
in the world. It’s hard to quantify
but a Winston just feels different
in your hand; almost organic, this
is something that must be experienced
to truly grasp.
The Winston rod company
currently makes six different rod
series, the BIIX, BIIT, BIIMX, WT,
LT and Traditional Cane Rods. With
all of these rod series options, Winston
has created something for every fishing
condition. The Boron series includes
the BIIX, which is the all around
most versatile series, the BIIT gives
the trout fisherman the delicate presentation
they desire and the mighty BIIMX will
punch casts into the wind with strength
and power. On the traditional end
the WT (Winston Traditional) offers
a blast from the past and the LT rods
are 5 piece specialty pack rods. The
final series to discuss are the Bamboo
rods, these rods speak for themselves,
sell for a premium and are available
in each of our three stores, they
are a must see!
In the end, fishing
puts everything into prospective.
It’s one of the things that
I appreciate most about the sport.
I know that some of my green each
year will go to the Winston Rod Company,
seems like a small price to pay for
freedom from societal norms.
