TCO State College opens with a blast!
April
14th, 2006 - 2030 East College Avenue State College, PA 18601
TCO Fly Shop - State College officially opened its doors to a
welcome crowd of fly fishers! Even though the weather was dreary,
there were still plenty of anglers waiting to come see the new
store. JoeFM, a popular radio station in State College, was on
hand for a live broadcast as well as the channel 10 news.
George Daniel, local fly fishing celebrity and TCO employee, (above
image) was interviewed on the air and talked about the USA Fly
Fishing Team and the importance of education and youth in the
sport. George is a member of the USA Fly Fishing Team and has
won several casting competitions to date. If you are in the area
stop and say hi to George or sign up for a casting or on-stream
lesson with him.
Customers loved the choices that were available, most of which
they never saw before! "The
selection of tying material is second to none!" said Tim
Burgess of State College. James Quinn told us that the rod rack
and reel display are the coolest he has ever seen!
"It's good to hear that our clients appreciate all the hard
work that we did to prepare this store and make this the premier
fly fishing shop in Central PA", said TCO State College store
manager, Paul Weamer. Paul, a native of Altoona, was most recently
managing a fly shop on the famed Delaware River. He has also just
finished his latest book entitled Fly Fishing the Delaware River.
Paul is also a contract fly tyer for Montana Fly Company with
many of his True Form patterns gaining recognition in industry
magazines.
Eric Norman, TCO Guide and part time employee in State College
was glad to be helping customers pick flies for their day on Spring
Creek, which is Eric's favorite local stream. "I love fishing
Spring Creek because there are so many large fish that are willing
to eat dry flies on the surface!"
"Even though we were a little late in getting the store open,
we are glad to be here and excited to be part of State College
and all its' great resources!" said Tony Gehman, TCO Fly
Shop President. "This is the 5th store for TCO and it's all
due to finding good people that enjoy the sport and love sharing
the passion with others!"
Stop in to see the new store next time you are in State College,
we guarantee you will be impressed with the selection of products
and the knowledgeable, courteous staff!
