| When developing the Big Game series, the design objective was simple - create a product that would meet or exceed the performance of any saltwater reel on the market, at a price substantially less than the other top brands. As the following information will demonstrate, we exceeded all expectations. Drag Durability and Performance - When you are looking to buy a big game reel, it is all about the drag! The drag material chosen for the BG series is a space-age polymer composite. In both static (dead lift) and dynamic (full-drag rotation) testing, the polymer composite outperformed every competitive drag material tested by a minimum of 25%. The BG series is smoother and more consistent than conventional cork drag systems, and unlike cork, it performs flawlessly in extreme cold, extreme heat and even when submerged. The reel is totally corrosion resistant, using no springs or small parts that are easily lost or rusted. The drag system has quadruple redundancy, providing three back-ups to ensure reliability even under the most demanding fishing conditions.
