Latest Fishing Report
:

Stream: Big Spring

Water Conditions: Levels good

Date of Update: 1/9/2008

Author: TCO Carlisle Staff

Highlight: Look for the occasional BWO, or midges, but subsurface streamer and nymph fishing will be most productive. Fishing towards the mid day will be most productive.

General Update: Levels are good as fish are still feeding throughout the day. Sight fishing for Big Spring fish in the "ditch" can be very rewarding...take a look, lots of healthy rainbows and tons of brook trout swimming around and feeding actively on cress bugs and the occasional rise to midges. Big Spring has undergoing some changes as stream improvements are being done...including the removal of the concrete remnant of the old locks. Stream has a new look, check it out..

Specifics and Tips: BWO's - sz. 14-24 Grey/White Midges - sz. 18-26 BWO nymphs - sz. 16-22 Disco Midge/Zebra Midge - sz. 18-16 Czech Nymph - sz. 10-16 Cress Bugs - sz. 12-18 Scuds - sz. 12-16 Streamers- Slump busters 6-8, Wooly buggers,Sculpins - sz. 6-10

As always, we would like to stress carefully reviving and releasing all fish caught. Please practice and advocate catch and release in all streams that can support year round fishing, especially those precious streams that contain wild trout.
