Anglers will find an abundance of access along
Route 86 and portions of Riverside Drive and Route
73. Route 86 is a typical mountain road and the
pull-offs come up quickly. There are numerous
access points and the fishing is always better
the further you walk from the parking lot!

From Metropolitan New York & New Jersey
Area:
Take
the New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 23 -
take Rt 787N to the Adirondack Northway (I-87)
North to Exit 30. Follow Route 73 west into Route
9N north, through the town of Keene, then continue
on 9N north to the town of Jay. Then take Route
86 west into Wilmington and Whiteface Mt.
From
Philadelphia, Washington, D.C.; points south:
Use New Jersey Turnpike and connect with Garden
State Parkway and follow to New York State Thruway.
Then use directions above "From Metropolitan
NY & NJ area."
From
Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse; points midwest:
Take I-90 (NY State Thruway) to Syracuse I-81
Exit 36. Follow I-81 north to Watertown, then
east on Route 3 to Saranac Lake. Take Route 86
east to Wilmington & Whiteface Mt.
From Boston, Springfield, Hartford:
Take I-90
West (Mass Turnpike) to Albany, then I-787 north
to Cohoes. Connect with Route 7 west and then
take I-87 north. Follow I-87 (Northway) to Exit
30. Follow Route 73 west into Route 9N north,
through the town of Keene, then continue on 9N
north to the town of Jay. Then take Route 86 west
into Wilmington and Whiteface Mt.
From Ottawa:
Take routes south to Cornwall Bridge.
Pick up Route 37 east to Malone. Follow Route
30 south to Paul Smiths and pick up Route 192.
Follow Route 192 to Route 86 and continue to Saranac
Lake, Lake Placid and Wilmington.
From Toronto:
Take 401 east to Route 16 south.
Use Prescott Bridge (Ogdensburg, NY). Follow Route
37 east to Malone and then use final directions
above "From Ottawa."
From Montreal:
Take Route 15 south to Champlain
crossing, connecting with I-87 south. Take Exit
34 south, follow Route 9N, then follow Route 86
to Whiteface Mt.

Lake Placid Airport:
1 mi. south of village of Lake Placid on Route 73, 518-523-2473. Hours of operation are 9am-5pm daily. Runway: 4,300 ft. Services: Air Charter, tie down, 80-100 av-gas, scenic flights, plane repairs, flight instruction, air taxi and air ambulance.
Adirondack Airport:
Saranac
Lake, 16 mi. from Lake Placid on Route 86, 518-891-5551.

Amtrak:
Operates between New York City and Montreal;
local stop in Westport, NY (40 minutes from Lake
Placid); shuttle bus service to Wilmington may
be arranged with a reservation 518-523-4431.
