Choosing
the right fly line is like choosing a pair of tires for
your car! Some people just buy whatever tire is the cheapest...
then they complain when the have to buy a new pair in
a year! The same holds true to Fly Lines. A fly line is
an integral part of your fly fishing system, if you buy
the cheapest available you will get the least performance!
Cleaning a fly lines is also VERY important. We have several
types of line cleaners and dressings to choose from. Remember,
you will never reach that tailing bonefish or sipping
trout if your line is old and cracked!
Scientific Anglers Sharkskin technology is a precise texturing process that embosses the surface of the fly line coating with a repeating geometric micro-pattern. The finished surface is no longer smooth, no longer exhibits unwanted line flash, and can be optimized via the engineered shape, depth, and frequency of the pattern to yield greatly improved line-to-water floatation, casting performance, and overall line suppleness and durability.
RIO's fly lines are the result of a dynamic synergy between on-the-water experience and experimentation, input from guides, outfitters and fly fishers, and intense R & D at RIO.
The result is a selection of fly lines that are created to meet the stress and challenges of fly fishing in freshwater, saltwater and warmwater.
It was 1952 when 3M Scientific Anglers™ developed the basic construction and composition of today's floating line, and They've been improving upon that design ever since. SA continues to focus their resources and expertise on enhancing floatability, and with the recent invention of AST — Advanced Shooting Technology — They've taken a revolutionary step that rivals their own invention of the modern fly line.
