| East Coast CDC Flies
- Better by design:
East Coast CDC Flies are tied with natural CDC utilizing
a unique tying technique that allows us to capture the most buoyant
part of the CDC feather without using the tips or stem. Our patterns
are tied specifically to match all of the predominant East Coast
hatches. We have concentrated on key stages of the life cycle often
overlooked by most commercial tiers.
Why buy TCO Innovations East Coast CDC Flies?
We use natural CDC to tie almost all of our patterns
1. Natural CDC is extremely buoyant.
2. CDC feathers contain thousands of tiny barbules which trap and
hold air allowing the feather, and the fly, to float.
3. Natural CDC has the highest ratio of barbules per fiber (no fibers
are damaged in the dying process).
4. Natural CDC is loaded with natural CDC oil which helps keep the
fibers and tiny barbules water resistant.
5. Natural CDC has the color and translucency of the natural mayfly,
caddis, or midge wing.
6. CDC feathers provide a soft, natural, and lifelike silhouette.
7. CDC feathers naturally catch and reflect light. This makes the
fly visible to the fish and the fly fisher.
8. CDC is extremely light. Our flies are not heavy or bulky and
do not cause twisting of leaders & tippets. The flies can be
presented delicately, even in the largest sizes.
9. CDC moves naturally which helps give wings the illusion of motion.
TCO CDC Patterns utilize Exclusive TCO Dubbing
All dubbing used in our patterns is dyed and blended
by us at TCO to match the hatch. The use of TCO Dubbing is not only
perfect in color but is utilized in the correct proportions both
in body size and appropriate proportions of the throax and body
colors.
Our unique tying techniques increase the effectiveness of the
patterns
1. We utilize the most buoyant portion of the CDC
feather by stripping the fibers from the stem. Our technique of
stacking and stripping produces a more natural and much more buoyant
wing than the use of just the tips of the feather.
2. Our flies are tied to match the color and proportions of the
natural insect. Our caddis patterns correctly imitate the color
distinction between the thorax and the abdomen. The wings on our
mayfly and caddis patterns also accurately depict the length and
position of the natural.
3. Our patterns are tied on extra wide gape, light wire hooks which
increases hooking percentage without unwanted weight.
4. TCO CDC flies consistently land upright, in a position to catch
fish.
East Coast CDC flies effectively match major hatches
and their stages. These patterns consistently catch fish on the
toughest streams and rivers anywhere.

East Coast CDC Flies - Exclusive Patterns:
CDC Thorax Dun
Our CDC Thorax Dun takes the more traditional thorax pattern (typically
tied with turkey flats which are heavy, opaque, and water absorbent)
and substitutes a natural CDC wing which is very light, translucent,
and naturally buoyant. This adaptation on the Thorax Dun style makes
it one of the most effective mayfly imitation available. Combined
with TCO Innovations hatch matching East Coast Dubbing and these
patterns fool even the most wary trout on the East Coast, or Anywhere!
CDC No-Hackle Dun
Our CDC No-Hackle Dun is a very realistic imitation that sits very
low in the surface film yet is still very buoyant and visible. Our
No-Hackle Dun is incredibly effective in a variety of water conditions
from riffles & pocket water to long slow glides. Our tying technique
utilizes the most buoyant part of the natural CDC feather (without
any stem) and allows the wing to be full and long while remaining
translucent and natural looking. This pattern is tied in from size
12 through size 26.
CDC No-Hackle Spinner
The CDC No Hackle Spinner provides the same advantages of visibility
and incredible buoyancy as the No-Hackle Dun but with variations
to match the prolific and complex spinner falls found on our East
Coast rivers and streams.
CDC Egg Laying Spinner
A defined egg sac is added to our most popular No-Hackle Spinner
patterns. These hard to find patterns can be deadly when fish are
only selectively feeding on fully spent spinners.
CDC "Pop" Emerger
The CDC "Pop" Emerger is not only one of our most popular
patterns, it may be the most effective emerger imitation we've ever
fished. This pattern is designed to imitate a mayfly struggling
to pop through the surface tension. The body extends down through
the surface film into the water however unlike most emerger patterns,
the CDC wing keeps the fly buoyant and easily visible. This pattern
is extremely effective in sizes 14 through 26.
CDC Adult Caddis
Our CDC Adult Caddis is another departure from the fly tying "norm".
Most commercially tied adult caddis patterns are tied with the same
color thorax and abdomen color (and it's usually the wrong color,
at least for the East Coast). Our patterns are tied with abdomen
colors dyed and blended specifically to match the caddis flies predominant
in our East Coast rivers and streams. In addition, we use a buggy
brown/grey rabbit fur blend for the thorax area of our caddis patterns
which accurately matches the proportions and color of the natural.
CDC Almost Adult Caddis
The CDC Almost Adult Caddis is a copy of our CDC Adult Caddis pattern,
however we've added and antron trailing shuck. This pattern is deadly
when fish are selectively feeding on emerging, still-born, or crippled
caddis.
CDC Egg Laying Caddis
The CDC Egg Laying Caddis is another pattern important to certain
rivers and streams in the East. We've added a defined green egg
sac to our Black and Cream Caddis patterns to create this deadly,
yet difficult to find pattern.
CDC "Pop" Midge
Finally, a midge pattern that you can actually see. It's not only
visible, It's one of the most effective midge patterns available
anywhere! The "Pop" midge imitates a midge struggling
to break through the surface tension, the time when it is most vulnerable
to feeding trout. The "Pop" Midge is extremely effective
whenever fish are taking midge emergers or adults. It's also available
in the micro sizes, down to size #26, which are almost impossible
to find.
Trico Sparkle-Wing Spinner
Although not tied with CDC, we think this Trico spinner is a very
worthwhile addition to our line of East Coast Flies. We've carefully
examined Trico's on many streams and rivers of the East. Our patterns
are tied with our own carefully dyed and blended dubbing to exactly
match the colors of the natural. In addition to near perfect colors,
our Trico's are tied down to size #26 on a extra wide gape hook
to keep your hooking percentage high. These concepts are also incorporated
in our Trico "Pop" Emerger and Trico No-Hackle Dun.
CDC Flying Ant
This important summer and fall terrestrial floats very well and
is easy to see. The CDC Flying Ant is a useful pattern throughout
the East and fishes as well as any ant pattern we've used. The CDC
Flying Ant is available in both cinnamon and black.
